Pylon Rogue, the challenging roguelike action RPG from the former Nintendo veterans at QuantumSquid, is now available for PC via Steam.

Heroes have risen in the world of Pylon Rogue, and they’re ready to risk life and limb in the pursuit of riches for some and justice for others. Choose from four characters, each with three distinct playstyles, then battle seemingly insurmountable odds.

More than 40 trait-shifting items shape how each run through the game plays out, but players will have to possess the skill to survive and have luck on their side to collect them. Eliminating enemies, finding hidden treasure, or spending the spoils of combat in the shop earns enhancements such as faster movement speed or bonus back-stabbing damage.

While there is but one life for each attempt, unlockable special items offer the determined player the chance at better abilities on subsequent playthroughs. While death is an inevitable part of the learning process, it can also be viewed as an opportunity to try another character for a new experience.

The procedurally-generated, roguelike gameplay takes the player through beautiful landscapes ranging from the vibrant jungle and a moonlit desert, to the new caves and ancient ruins debuting with today’s release.

“When we began work on Pylon Rogue, we wanted to find a balance between deep character building and fast-paced arcade play,” says Dane Emerson, founder, QuantumSquid. “We’ve made a game that finds the perfect balance between combat and pacing alongside the staples of roguelikes, so everyone can jump in for a quick session and walk away satisfied.”

Pylon Rogue is available for $14.99 on Steam, and a 50% off sale for a limited time at launch takes it down to $7.49.
